Pete Hegseth’s push for testosterone testing in the military has reignited a debate over what actually makes an effective fighting force. Instead of focusing on leadership, discipline, intelligence, teamwork, and readiness, conservative culture warriors continue to promote an “alpha male” image that treats masculinity as a political performance.
In this video, I discuss why I believe this fixation on testosterone and performative masculinity reflects a broader culture-war mindset rather than addressing the real challenges facing the U.S. military. I also examine how figures like Joe Rogan, JD Vance, Dana White, and Pete Hegseth have become symbols—at least in my view—of a version of masculinity that prizes image over substance.
Strength isn’t measured by hormone levels. It’s measured by character, integrity, courage, and the willingness to serve others.
