Cathy Newman was handed this interview at the end of a long day covering Syria and Brexit, with no time to prepare. So she walked into the Channel 4 studio in January 2018 certain of who Jordan Peterson was, and with nothing to prove it.
Half an hour later she had made him a household name.
Here is what almost nobody mentions: there was a real case against him that night. His account of the Canadian law at the centre of the row was wildly out of proportion, and the case against it was there to be made — by anyone given the hours to make it.
She has none. So she never lays a finger on it.
